About Me

Hello! My name is Jeff. I would first like to thank you for visiting my blog.

The purpose of writing this blog is based upon my personal journey with Christ. I wish I could say that the journey has been a constant uphill climb. However, the truth of the matter is that the journey has been more like “over the river and through the woods.” Sometimes the journey has seemed more like wandering than a one that is purposeful and guided. A big reason for that “feeling” is that after I got “saved”, I truly lacked the knowledge and understanding of how to purposefully walk on this journey with Jesus Christ. You see the Psalmist says that “the steps of a good man (or woman) are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23-24). I also didn’t truly understand the role of the Holy Ghost and how one of his roles is to “lead us and to guide us into all truth.” My ignorance was no one else’s fault but my own. I heard much truth along the journey. I even read and studied the Word to obtain truth and understanding. However, it wasn’t until I applied that “truth” to my own life that my eyes were enlightened and I began to see the pathway more clearly. I, also, saw how much I was trying to lead and guide, as opposed to the Holy Spirit. This enlightenment came not as an instance or experience but rather a coming to grips with my own self and how that “self” was being a hinderance to my spiritual progress.

I will say that along this journey there have been several obstacles and distractions that at times made that progress much too difficult. Church divisions and splits, persecutions, and even personal battles all contributed to those obstacles and distractions. However, the blame cannot be placed on others, the scriptures tell me that I need to keep my eyes on Jesus Christ, “the author and finisher of my faith” if I am to run this race with patience (Hebrews 12:1-2).

So this blog is meant to help those who are on a similar life’s journey. You see, we sometimes get so caught up in “church” that we forget our individual purposes in life. I am not taking away from the church. However, I have seen where church or better yet, church issues, have been a distraction in a person’s spiritual progress in the journey. We must first understand our own personal walk with God and our individual place in God’s body. If we get that understanding then our assemblies benefit from our enlightened state … for we are the church! This blog is not meant to replace church. It is meant to help bring understanding so that when we go into our assemblies, we go with a purpose.

Lastly, the idea behind “Repair the Breach” is simple. It’s based upon the story of Nehemiah and his burden for the people of God and their estrangement from God. He carries out his burden by returning to Jerusalem and repairing the wall. A wall is the sum of separate and distinct parts. Whether the wall is made of wood, brick, or stone, it cannot be a wall without those parts being placed and held together with either nails or mortar. In biblical times, walls were built mainly to establish and protect a city. As God’s people, we are the stones that He uses to build his wall. Jesus Christ is not only the foundation that we build upon but he, through the work of the Holy Spirit, is that mortar that binds us together … to establish His City … His Kingdom … His Church!
